Domenica Scholars Keep on Achieving

We are so proud of our Domenica Scholars that we do our best to keep up with them after high school graduation. We want to see — and to share with you — how the opportunity to attend a high-quality high school empowers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to keep on achieving. So today we highlight four former Domenica Scholars who are receiving college degrees this month. All four graduated from Camden Catholic High School in 2018.

Welcoming the Domenica Scholarship Class of 2026

Last week, we welcomed 18 new rising high school students to the family of Domenica Scholars. The scholarship event, held at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden on April 26, was a beautiful celebration of aspiration, perseverance, and hope.

College Bound!

On Saturday, March 26, we took 25 Domenica Scholars on a tour of Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, accompanied by high school and Catholic Partnership School staff. The trip was open to all scholarship recipients in grades 9 through 11. You can see from their testimonials how much the young people enjoyed the trip!

Kids + Books + Art

Last week we helped Camden County Pop Up Library (CCPUL) deliver empty “book ark” structures to Catholic Partnership Schools (CPS). Our grant to CCPUL is funding 10 new book arks along with 640 Spanish-language books to help fill them.

The wooden book arks are designed to showcase donated books, which community members can take free of charge and bring back when finished. CCPUL’s motto is “We take books where libraries don’t go and give them away.”

Where do CPS children come in? They’re going to decorate some of the arks!

Looking Forward, Looking Back

We’re excited about new opportunities this spring that will bring books to communities with no libraries, arts instruction to Catholic Partnership Schools in Camden, and high school Domenica Scholars to the Rowan University campus.
